Evidence of the Demise of Morality in America

If you have lots of money, many rich and powerful friends, and hide from the police for 30 years, you can avoid punishment for even the most heinous of crimes. Apparently that is the new morality in America.

Roman Polanaski drugged and raped a 13 year old girl 30 years ago and has used his connections and money to avoid extradition from Europe for 30 years to avoid prosecution for this offense. He's admitted he did it, so there's no question about guilt. However, his rationalization is: "I like younger girls".

This man, if you can call him that, is the worst kind of criminal and now he has people like Whoopi Goldberg defending him by saying it wasn't "rape - rape". I'm sorry, is this some new type of category, for rich powerful people, that allows them to drug under aged girls and have forcible sex with them without it being a crime? RAPE IS RAPE, especially when it involves child molestation (even if the child consented to sex as Whoopi Goldberg contends, she was still a minor and Polandski took advantage) . We shouldn't care if the victim (now an adult) forgives the perpetrator. His crime was a crime against society as well as a crime against the young girl.

In all honestly, I don't know what Roman Polanski is charged with: Rape, Child Molestation, or Sex With A Minor. Does it really matter? He's now added a whole host of other charges to the original ones such as Fleeing Prosecution and Bail Jumping. Whatever you want to call it, the man is a criminal.

Rich, powerful and immoral people, like Whoopi Goldberg, are now trying to make Polanski look like a wrongly persecuted hero. He is not, he is a criminal of the worst sort.

This other friend of Polanski said he is a Brilliant and talented artist who "just made a little mistake". Where do these people come from who think that committing rape or child molestation is a "little mistake"? And since when is being a brilliant artist a defense to being convicted of such a crime?

Society had, and still has, a perfect opportunity to enforce the law, and the morals of America. This is a high profile crime and a high profile criminal. We should make an example of Roman Polanski to prove that America will not tolerate such violations of our laws, our morality and our sensibilities. We shouldn't care how much money he has, how many powerful friends he has, how successfully he's evaded extradition for 30 years or how old and frail he now is. Roman Polanski should not be allowed to get away with this type of crime and neither should anyone else. Stand up and show the world that God still exists in America.

As far as Whoopi Goldberg is concerned, I can't say it any better the the fellow in the following Youtube.com video:
